About

Our story

Designed for interiors that feel intentional yet effortless, Solum creates rugs that bring depth and cohesion to the spaces we live in.

My perspective was shaped by time spent living in Copenhagen and Amsterdam, where interiors often feel layered and deeply personal.

Returning to Australia, I was drawn to interiors that captured that same sense of balance — pieces that felt both nostalgic and modern, refined yet enduring.

That experience became the inspiration for Solum: creating natural, contemporary rugs designed to anchor your space.

My hope is that Solum creates a lasting foundation for your home, and for life to unfold around it.

Our philosophy

Solum rugs are made from 100% New Zealand wool and ethically handcrafted by artisans in India.

We use only natural fibres and safe, non-toxic dyes — free from plastic and harmful toxins, with a focus on materials that support a healthier home environment.

Beyond materials, Solum creates rugs that are contemporary and considered — pieces with presence, form, and texture that bring a space together.

Not a finishing touch, but the starting point that guides everything else.

Solum takes its name from the Latin for earth, ground, and foundation — a nod to both the foundational layer a rug forms within a room, and the natural origin of the materials it is made from.

"Not a finishing touch, but the starting point that guides everything else."
